We received a phone call last week from a gentleman who was very concerned about his mother who had been in a nursing home, and he suspected that the care that she was receiving was not adequate and there might be abuse involved. He wanted to know what he should do. What we told him was he should immediately report any suspected abuse to the Illinois Department of Public Health. They will investigate any of those claims, speak to the nursing home and any of the care providers inside the nursing home, and they will start an investigation.
